2.10.3. Module of the fuel pump


In the car the integrated module of the fuel pump is used. It is used both on petrol and on options diesel engines. The module of the fuel pump includes all knots necessary for control of level and supply of fuel.
On petrol engines the fuel filter is installed in the module. On diesel engines the external fuel filter which settles down in a motor compartment is used. The module for diesel engines also differs in the fact that the preliminary fuel pump is not used for Z 17 DTL and Z 17 DTH engines.

Design of the module of the fuel pump
On the scheme the approximate design of the module of the fuel pump is shown below. The module of the fuel pump contains knots which do not belong to all complete sets of the engine.
Fuel pump of preliminary supply of fuel
On the car, access to the module of the fuel pump for maintenance is provided through the opening which is settling down under a back seat in the floor panel. The pillow of back sitting has to be removed for receiving access to an opening.

Fuel pump of preliminary supply of fuel (roller pump)
The fuel pump of preliminary supply of fuel is installed in the module of the fuel pump. The problem of the fuel pump of preliminary supply of fuel consists in giving enough fuel with a certain pressure upon an admission to the engine under all working conditions. It consists of a cover with electric sockets, the backpressure valve and the output union. The cover usually also contains the coal brushes necessary for operation of the electric motor and an element of suppression of hindrances.
Requirements to operation of the roller pump:
– expense from 60 to 200 l/h;
– pressure on an admission in fuel system from 3,0 to 4,5 bars.

Special tool
The special tool is required for removal of the module of the fuel pump. In the drawing the KM special adaptation 6391 is shown. Four guides are established vertically in the existing guides of the module of the fuel pump for separation of the module from arms and removal assembled.
For the best presentation the module is shown removed from the car.
