2.9.1. Filling and removal of air from the cooling system


Cooling system (engines of 1,4 l)
* Use only antifreeze 19 40 656/90 297 545 (blue) to MY 2001 and only antifreeze 19 40 650/09 194 431 (red) with MY 2001 in 50% of mix with water.
** At a temperature of cooling liquid of 20 °C / 68 °F.

Cooling system (engines of 1,6 l)
* Use only antifreeze 19 40 650/09 194 431 (red) in 50% of mix with water.
** At a temperature of cooling liquid of 20 °C.

Cooling system (engines of 1,8 l)
* Use only antifreeze 19 40 656/90 297 545 (blue) to MY 2001 and only antifreeze 19 40 650/09 194 431 (red) with MY 2001 in 50% of mix with water.
** At a temperature of cooling liquid of 20 °C / 68 °F.

Check
Always use antifreeze 1940650/9194431 (red). Be convinced of what concentration makes: 50% of water and 50% of antifreeze. Antifreeze not only protects all cooling system from freezing, but also protects everything the parts which are washed cooling liquid from deposits and corrosion.
Quality of water also plays an important role. Water of drinking quality usually meets these requirements.
The engine can be damaged when using of not recommended antifreeze.
If the radiator, a head of the block of cylinders or laying of a head of the block of cylinders were replaced, old cooling liquid should not be reused.

ATTENTION
When replacing cooling liquid on cars with the conditioner: switch off the conditioner and set the ESO mode.

Open the cooling system.

ATTENTION
The cooling system is under pressure.

Turn off a cover of a broad tank of cooling liquid.
Fill in cooling liquid to the lower broad tank of cooling liquid of a mark.
Close the cooling system.
Wrap a cover of a broad tank of cooling liquid.
Let's the engine get warm at 2500 min.-1 before turning on of the fan of a radiator.
Remove air from the cooling system.
Let's the engine work within about 2 min. at 2000–2500 min.-1.

NOTE
Air from the cooling system is removed through lines of branch.

Stop the engine and let's it cool down.
Check the level of cooling liquid and add cooling liquid to a tag of "COOL".
