7.1.3. Generator

General information
The generator – a source of power supply of the car. At the working engine it provides with the electric power all units and charges the rechargeable battery. The powerful three-phase synchronous generator is power power plant of your car. Already in the idling mode it provides power supply of all consumers. In modern cars the generator is capable to develop power to 2 kW. The generator is put in action by a maple belt.
The three-phase generator develops three-phase alternating current. As the accumulator has to be recharged by a direct current, by means of powerful diodes there is a transformation of alternating current to constant.
Rectifiers also prevent a battery discharge at the parking. The generator practically does not demand service. It is independently possible to replace generator brushes after the run of 100 000 km. In case of serious malfunction take the generator to repare.
