6.4.2. Instruction for repair of ABS 5.3, ABS 5.3 / PBS, ABS 8.0, ABS 8.0 CCD

About braking in the range of regulation of ABS the driver can judge by a pulsation of the pedal of a brake accompanied with noise of the pumping-out pump that indicates to the driver that it is necessary to bring car speed into accord with road conditions.

At malfunction of ABS the control lamp of ABS 1 on the dashboard is lit, however the ordinary brake system remains completely efficient. The car should be sent as soon as possible for check and repair to the distributor or in the service center Opel/Vauxhall.

After all works which are not relating to ABS details it is enough to carry out a simple operational inspection. It means that through 3 sposl of inclusion of ignition the control lamp of ABS on the dashboard has to go out. If the control lamp of ABS on the dashboard does not die away or lights up incidentally during the movement, in system a malfunction.

It is necessary to pay attention to protection against the electrostatic category which non-compliance can lead to damage of the block (integrated circuit), in particular, of pressure sensor in the CCD. It is necessary to provide the appropriate measures, such as protection of a workplace against the electrostatic category. If such measures are inaccessible, it is possible to dress an antistatic bracelet which is in a car luggage carrier.

After work, connected with gidroagretaty or the ABS control unit (for example, accident elimination), it is necessary to carry out an inspection of all ABS system.

An inspection can be carried out the TECH 2 device according to the existing instruction for check. At rest at the included ignition there is a self-examination of ABS which, depending on the circumstances, can be heard on noise of the pumping-out pump.

At work on cars with ABS it is necessary to meet the following conditions:

– when carrying out electrowelding works it is necessary to take out a network fork from the ABS control unit;

– when painting temperature of the ABS control unit should not exceed 80 °C. about the Ambassador of work on the brake system, from it it is necessary to pump out air. Check all connections for tightness. After the end of repair work it is necessary to check reliability of connection of the rechargeable battery;

– it is forbidden to use temporarily collected schemes for start. It is necessary to pay attention to reliability of all cable connections. Never to insert and not to take out a cable multicontact plug from the ABS control unit at the included ignition.
