4.2.1. Repair of wheels and tires
Manufacturer all models are equipped with the steel radial tire (the tubeless radial tire). Together with tubeless tires only "safe" oboda, so-called deep oboda with hampy can be used. Hamp is a ring-shaped ledge on the landing shelf of a rim which holds a tire board from movement on a rim bottom. At asymmetrical deep rims the tire has to be mounted over the narrow landing shelf of a rim, i.e. from outer side of a wheel.
At installation of tires with an arrow-shaped profile, it is necessary to observe the established direction of rotation. To pay attention to marks in the tires having a certain assembly situation: to monitor designation external / inside on a tire sidewall.
Centering of disk wheels on a nave of a wheel of a forward axis is an installation on the central opening or on wheel screws. For protection against deep corrosion at each installation it is necessary to apply on the aligning nest on a nave of a wheel of a little plastic lubricant for bearings.
The torque of screws of a wheel makes 110 N · m.
Before installation of the "dry" screw conic surfaces are greased with plastic lubricant for rolling bearings.
Use of protective disks or brake dustproof disks for a disk brake of Adam Opel AG is forbidden for the safety reasons. At installation of these disks it is impossible to achieve reliable fastening of a wheel. Transfer of a disk imbalance on a wheel negatively affects dynamic qualities. There is a danger of an overheat of the brake system. If on the car nevertheless similar disks are established, it is necessary to know about the existing risk.
Data of the recommended air pressure in tires for summer and winter tires are on inside of the filling hatch or on an average left rack of a body (an average right rack of a body in cars with right-hand steering), and also in the operation manual. At change of the size of tires on inside of the filling hatch the corresponding label with information on air pressure in tires has to be pasted, labels are available at service stations of service.
Use of a chain of antisliding is allowed only on driving wheels (a forward axis). At the same time it is necessary to consider that it is possible to use only small chains which on inside and on a protector of a tire do not act more than on 15 mm (including the chain lock).
When replacing tires it is necessary to watch that only the sizes of tires allowed by the manufacturer of the car were established. Also the rules established by the law of this country have to be followed! They contain all obligatory characteristics and the sizes of the equipment, e.g. connections of a speedometer, an expander of a wheel niche, the rim size, etc.
Requirements of competent authority have to regulate a combination of the size of tires and the speedometer corresponding to them (speed on 1 m of a way). The corresponding permission to operation divides tires into groups. It follows from this that on the car only tires of the suitable size, i.e. one group determined by characteristics of a speedometer can be installed. Does not matter what marking of speed on them (S, T or H) and winter is tires or summer.
All sizes of tires specified in the documents which are attached to the car can be also established in winter modification (tires with high coefficient of coupling with the road, tires for driving on dirty and snow-covered roads) if no exceptions are provided.
Prevention: If the maximum speed of the car is higher than the maximum speed of winter tires, the admissible speed of tires for driving on dirty and snow-covered roads has to be designated by a badge in sight of the driver. It is recommended to establish winter rubber on all 4 wheels.
Winter tires (tires for driving on dirty and snow-covered roads) have restriction of speed, admissible maximum speed is determined by marking of the used tires.
If the established oboda of a wheel are not provided for installation of winter tires, when using of the flat covering caps it is obligatory to watch that long valves of tires were inserted. Also grooves of an obduv of these caps have to provide cooling of the brake system.
To compensate constructive conditional fluctuation of weight on tires of the car and on rims of wheels, the established wheels have to be balanced. The imbalance leads to violation of concentric rotation of a wheel and violation of steering, the clip of bearings of a wheel, parts of the steering drive and tires as a result increases. At first, before installation of wheels on the car, balancing is carried out on the stationary balancing device. After installation on the car the residual imbalance which arises, as a rule, from the unbalanced rotating parts of the car (a wheel nave, the brake drum or a brake disk) can be revealed. to compensate this residual imbalance, wheels can be balanced by mobile balancing adaptation (the final balance weight or the device of exact balancing).
